I am a 38 year old bachelor currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. I grew up in a small town just outside of Nashville, where I guess I could have been called a bit of an underachiever. By the time I reached high school, I was a bit burned out of all of the studying. One of my instructors suggested that it was because the subjects we were required to take weren’t challenging enough for me. At first I laughed at the notion, but there may be some truth to it…especially considering that my best grades came in classes such as Physics. I rarely took a book home, only taking the time to study when an exam was imminent, thus I barely graduated with a 3.0 GPA. When it came time to take the college entrance exams, I stepped up my game, scoring highly enough on both the ACT and SAT to be ranked in the top 1% of all students nationwide. These scores helped to earn a 4-year Air Force ROTC Scholarship, and I left that fall for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
I was actually rather disappointed with ERAU, and as such only stayed there for a year. During my two semesters there, I only had one instructor who actually even knew what my name was (and that was my Air Force ROTC instructor, who HAD to know my name). To each of my other instructions, I was simply the last four digits of my social security number and a body in their class. At the end of the spring semester, I moved back to Tennessee and attended Middle Tennessee State University. Surprisingly, I didn’t really miss Daytona Beach at all. Between the heat, the lack of seasonal weather, the sand, the salt, the traffic, and the tourists, I was actually quite glad to get back to Tennessee.
Over the years, I’ve actually had the pleasure of working for several different companies, including several Fortune 500 companies. My time with companies such as Dell, Wal-Mart, and AT&T has given me a wealth of experience in various capacities, including both in-person and telephone sales, consumer and business-to-business sales, small scale and large scale management, and a vast assortment of technological skills. Today I’m putting many of those skills to use developing a network of business websites.
At 38, I’ll admit that I’m starting to get tired of my single status…but if recent experiences are any indication, I may be better off that way! I’m not giving up though. Hopefully I won’t have to wait too much longer to find that special someone.
I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances.
